Panerai Radiomir Egiziano (PAM00341)

With a diameter of 60mm and a mighty 8-day movement, the Panerai Radiomir Egiziano is a real powerhouse of a watch. Released in 2009, this special edition piece was made in commemoration of the Radiomir and Luminor watches deployed to the Egyptian Navy in the mid 1950s: hence its name 'Egiziano'. The incentive to equip the Egyptian navy with Officine Panerai watches was spearheaded by an Egyptian frigate captain who, when training in Italy for commando frogmen, was enamoured by the functionality of Panerai's water-resistant design. Only around 100 of these original watches were produced, with little more information available due to a degree of military secrey as well as the flooding of Panerai's archives in 1966.
This Radiomir is a truly exceptional model and one of exceptional size. Measuring at 60mm with a thickness of 19.7mm, this PAM00341 reference is considerably larger than the 47mm diameter of standard models. Its thick rotating bezel is deeply milled and, like the original models, is rotatable with 12 steps and a stop before it makes a complete rotation; meaning that is moves in steps of 5 minutes for each click, as opposed to the standard 1 minute click. This feature was specifically requested by the Egpytian navy.
Its titanium case makes this large watch extraordinarily light yet very durable, with its dial protected by a plexiglass crystal. Limited to just 500 pieces, this watch comes alongside a secondary strap, screwdriver, original inner and outer packaging, Egiziano book, instruction booklets and signed certificate. A phenomenal, historical package, this PAM00341 special edition is a golden opportunity to invest in the legacy of Panerai.
