Longines Military WWW ‘Greenlander’ Re-Issue

A fitting and perfectly executed tribute to Longines’ military heritage, this re-issue model of the WWW model from the ‘40s captures the timelessness of military watchmaking. Released in 2009, this L2.731.4.53.2 reference saw a tremendously positive reception worldwide. While the dial remains simplistic and easy to read with cathedral hands and a seconds sub-dial, the watch itself contains all the mechanical prowess of a modern watch as well as a moderate diameter of 38.5mm.
Symbolic of the vintage revival in the late 2000s, this watch stood as one of the most important and well-executed re-issues of its time and was subsequently released in limited numbers. This watch’s individual number (#530) is engraved on the case back alongside the ministry of defence broad arrow, model number and the WWW marking. Affectionately nicknamed ‘Greenlander’ after being worn during expeditions to Greenland in the 1940s, this watch carefully attempts to uphold the legacy of a watch so famously adorned by the British military. Accompanied by its original packaging, booklets and guarantee card dated 31/12/09, this superb military Longines is indeed a worthwhile investment. The leather NATO strap is not original but can be exchanged for a regular NATO strap or a black leather strap if preferred.
