Berna Swiss Full Complication Day Date Month Moonphase & 30 Minute Chronograph

A fine example of a complex chronograph from the 1940s. After the austerity of the war years, watches became increasingly elaborate and is generally the decade which is credited with the birth of the chronograph. This watch from the Swiss watchmaking company Berna is perhaps one of the most complicated pieces of its time and superbly exemplifies the landscape of 1940s watchmaking. The same movement would be incorporated by more famous brands and would sell today for tens of thousands of pounds. The chronograph minute counter even displays the telephonic sections which are the extra long minute markers used for timing long distance telephone calls. A lovely period feature on this watch.
The gold-plated case showing no signs of wear and is super clean. It has been fully serviced by our watchmaker and all functions are running perfectly. A rare opportunity to purchase a horological masterpiece.
